Storm Damage & Insurance Claims
Navigating insurance claims can be stressful. We guide you through the process, meet adjusters on-site, and ensure your home gets the full coverage it deserves.
Signs of Storm Damage
Look for these signs from the ground. If you see any, request a professional roof inspection.
Missing Shingles
Shingles completely torn off by strong wind gusts.
Wind Creases
Dark horizontal lines where the shingle was folded backward.
Granule Loss
Bare patches where hail has bruised away protective granules.
Dented Flashing
Hail dents on metal valleys, soft vents, or chimney caps.
Interior Leaks
Water stains on ceilings or inside the attic after heavy rain.
Siding & Gutter Damage
Dented gutters, cracked siding panels, or loose fascia.
Our Claims Process
1. Inspection
Contact us immediately after a storm. Our inspectors examine the roof, taking high-resolution photos of wind creases, hail impact craters, and dented valley metals.
2. Filing
If substantial damage exists, call your insurance carrier to file a claim. Provide them with our photographic evidence. They will assign a claim number and adjuster.
3. Adjuster Meeting
Tell your adjuster that Lord's Roofing Company is your chosen contractor. We will meet the adjuster on-site at your home, walk the roof with them, and point out all documented damage.
4. Scope Approval
Once the adjuster approves, they send a Scope of Loss detailing the cost of materials and labor. We review the scope to make sure it covers all necessary replacement elements.
5. Replacement
We perform the replacement, submit the completion certificate and final invoice to your insurer, and they release the final depreciated funds to you.
We Stand Up for Homeowners
Insurance adjusters have a job to do, and they often look for ways to minimize claims or deny full replacements. Our team has years of experience speaking the adjuster's language, identifying hail bruising, and demonstrating when wind creases require full decking overhauls.
When we meet your adjuster on-site, we walk the roof side-by-side. We present a detailed photographic report, explain building code requirements (such as matching ice-and-water shield requirements), and advocate for your household's safety.

Insurance & Claims FAQs
Do I have to choose the cheapest contractor?
No. Your insurance company covers the actual cost of a replacement minus your deductible. Choosing a 'cheap' roofer only saves the insurance company money, while leaving you with lower quality materials. You have the right to hire a certified contractor of your choice.
What is my out-of-pocket cost for a storm claim?
Legally, your only out-of-pocket cost is your insurance policy's deductible. Beware of contractors offering to 'waive' or 'absorb' deductibles, as this constitutes insurance fraud in Ohio and Kentucky.
How long do I have to file a claim after storm damage?
Most insurance policies require claims to be filed within one year (12 months) of the storm event. However, it's best to act quickly to prevent interior leak damage.
